Description of Species | Deciduous, slender, straight trees up to 15 m tall. Leaves, 2 – 3 pinnate; pinnae 3 – 4 pairs; leaflets broadly ovate or elliptic, 6.5 – 14 x 2.6 – 8 cm, entire, acuminate, dark green – shining above, pale beneath, terminal long stalked. Flowers dull – purple, fleshy in large, erect, stout, terminal, pedunculate racemes. Calyx about 2.6 cm long; lobes fleshy. Corolla campanulate, fleshy; mouth wide; lobes subequal, round. Stamens 5.
