Trees, up to 35 m high. Bark thick, dark brown, deeply cracked, blaze pink red. Leaves paripinnate, alternate, estipulate; leaflets up to 20, subopposite, estipellate. Leaf-lamina 3.5-15 x 2.5-8 cm. pinnate, regular. Flowers bisexual, yellowish-white, in terminal panicles. Calyx small, campanulate, lobes 5, ovate. Petals 5, oblong, obovate or spathulate, pubescent. Ovary superior, stipitate, ovoid. Ovules many in each cell. Style stout. Stigma capitate. Fruit a capsule, 4-5 valved, ovoid, dark brown.seeds many, thin, broadly winged at base |
