Deciduous shrubs or trees, to 8 m high, with rough, brown bark. Leaves broadly ovate, elliptic or elliptic-oblong, 10-45 x 5-10 cm, sub-coriaceous, base obtuse or cuneate. Flowers white or cream-coloured, 1.5-2.5 cm across, in terminal, corymbose cymes. Calyx deeply 5-lobed. Corolla tube cylindrical, swollen at base. Stamens 5. Carpels 2, distinct; style short; stigma usually marked with white specks; seeds linear with pale-brown comma. |
