Description of Species | Evergreen, erect palms 7-15 m high; stem simple, covered with persistent leaf bases and topped by crowns of foliage leaves. Leaves 2-4(5) m long; leaflets rigid, folded, 30-40 x 1-1.5 cm, acicular tip; petioles spiny. Male flowers white, fragrant, in 30-60 cm long, spreading panicles; female flowers terminating the branches, in large bunches; spathes 30-40 cm long.
