Description of Species |
Deciduous or subdeciduous trees, to 23 m high. Leaves paripinnate, leaflets 2 – 4 pairs, opposite, oblong, ovate or obovate. Flowers small, greenish – yellow, fascicled on simple or compound, drooping racemes, often crowded near the ends of branches; some trees produces only male flowers. Calyx cup – shaped. Petals absent. Disc complete, stamens 5 – 8, inserted within the disc. Ovary 3 – 4 loculed. Fruit 1 – 3 celled, dry, coriaceous, indehiscent, globose, tapering to a point; seeds in a pulpy aril, smooth, compressed, brown. |
