Description of Species |
Deciduous trees, to 12 m high, with grey corky bark and thick milky juice. Leaves crowded towards the end of branches, elliptic-oblong or oblong-lanceolate, acute or acuminate, crenate-serrate. Flowers appearing before the leaves, yellowish-green, in stout, erect, , fleshy spikes; male flowers many, in clusters. Perianth 2(3) lobed. Stamens free. Ovary 2-3 celled. Capsules ovoid, closely packed on fleshy spikes; seeds with oily endosperm. |
