Leaves imparipinnate, young ones pinkish – red; leaflets 4 – 6 pairs, opposite or sub opposite, lanceolate, long acuminate, entire, coriaceous, base oblique; lateral nerves about 20 pairs. Flowers small, unisexual; male flowers and female flowers on compact, pubescent red panicles; somewhat pinkish – red flowers appearing with or just before the young leaves. Calyx 3 – 5 partite. Stamens 5 – 7, on small disc. Ovary sessile, 1 – celled.
