Deciduous trees, to 25 m high. Leaves cordate or orbicular, stipules oblong or ovate. Flowers cream – yellow, in globose pedunculate heads of 1.3 – 2.5 cm diam; peduncle axillary, usually bearing a solitary head; bracts small. Corolla trumpet shaped. Stamens 5.
