Medium-sized shrub up to 3 m tall. Leaves green, alternate, broadly ovate, palmately veined, with 3 distinct lobes, sparsely dentate to crenate margins yellowish green autumn color is poor. Flowers - red, purple, mauve, violet, or blue, with a different colored throat, large petaled. Fruits green to brown, ornamentally unattrative 5--valved dehiscent capsules are persistent throughout much of the winter. |
