Description of Species Evergreen or subdeciduous, aromatic shrubs, up to 2 m high. Leaves broadly ovate or ovate – lanceolate, base cuneate, double serrate, acuminate, glabrous or minutely pubescent. Flowers in dense bracteate, crowded, spicate racemes; bracts imbricate, ovate – lanceolate, acute, bractoles falcate – lanceolate, acuminate. Calyx with gland, hairy; lobes nearly equal, 5 – toothed. Corolla purple or whitish, glandular, upper lip 3 – lobed; lower small; sometimes equally 4 – lobed. Fruit a nut. ellipsoid, shining, dark – brown.
