| Description of Species |
A shrub up to 50 cm tall. Stem and branches scabrid appressed hairs arising from a swollen base, usually glabrescent with age. Leaves sessile, entire, lanceolate, hairy an both surfaces; hairs similar to those on stem. Flowers bracteate, usually in axillary or terminal clusters of 2–4 flowers; bracts leafy, but smaller. Calyx with appressed strigose hairs; lobes lanceolate. Corolla white, tubular, lobes oblong, margin crisp, lower half hairy; throat densely vinous with pale yellow hairs. Stamens subexserted, alternating with the lobes; filaments dilated towards base; anthers narrow oblong; stigma sub-capitate. Fruit a nut, erect, slightly concave, brown, ovoid, back rugulose, minutely tuberculate. |
