Evergreen tree up to 10 m tall. Bark dark brown in color, very rough and deep fissures render it into small, more or less rectangular scales. Leaves ovate-elliptic to lance shaped, with lots of freckle-like red dots on the upper surface. Flowers small, greenish, borne in simple spikes. Fruit an achene, pointed at both ends. |
