Annual, foetid undershrub, up to 1.5 m high. Leaves ovate – lanceolate, irregularly toothed or lobed, base decurrent, apex obtuse or acute. Flowers sky blue, solitary, axillary, on drooping stalk; calyx 5 – lobed to the base; lobes ovate – lanceolate, auminate; corolla bell – shaped, blue or rarely white. Fruit a berry globose, glabrous, enclosed by enlarged, 5 – angled, papery clayx lobes; seeds minute, somewhat discoid, compressed. |
