Perennial, evergreen shrubs with woody base, bark smooth. Leaves broadly elliptic or ovate, narrowed towards the base, entire – repand, acuminate. Flowers bright blue, in short spikes; spikes, often forming close terminal clusters; bracts elliptic – ovate, with dark – green vein, glabrous; bracteoles lanceolate, ciliate, hairy; corolla tube slender; segments; stamens 2, glabrous.
