A small or medium sized tree with a fairly long trunk. Bark smooth, ashy grey. Leaves 3.5-10.5 x 2-5 cm, generally elliptic or ovate-oblong, dark green, densely valvetly-tomentose when young, base usually rounded. Male flowers pale-yellow, in short 3-5- flowered axillary cymes. Female flower solitary. Calyx lobes broad and rounded. Corolla slightly pubescent. Stamens 16, in opposite pairs. Fruit globose, 2-2.5 cm in diam., red where ripe. Seeds generally 8 in each fruit, compressed |
