Evergreen scandent shrubs or climbers, densely armed. Leaves ovate, elliptic – lanceolate or oblong – lanceolate, subcordate at base, emarginated or retuse at apex. Flowers white, in sessile or shortly peduncled umbels. Sepals subequal, ovate or suborbicular, ciliate along margins. Petals obovate or oblong, white. Stamens 25 – 40, exserted. Anthers brown. Gynophore slender, thickened in fruits. Fruits globose, smooth, yellow to black. Seeds 1 – 2, embedded in sticky pulp |
